The sink bath at Nana's house
Worn out! What a rough life...

The "Cupcake Tower"

Kate, a Little Football and Some More Kate...
We aren't shy about our little "Katie Bug" so I guess we can brag about her just a little bit:
  • Kate has new tricks this week. She started rolling over (back to front) on Sunday and has decided that she likes to play with her toes. So far it looks like she has my flexibility (sorry Chris, but being able to reach your toes was a dead giveaway) which is essential since I am starting her dance career asap. She also loves to hear her own voice and has added a new sound to her repertoir-she makes her lips vibrate. She even throws a new spin on crying by spitting/working the lips to let us know when she is extra mad.
  • Sadly football is over and we all know how it ended, so we aren't going to dwell on it! I catered the football banquet last Wednesday and spent two days baking approximately 450 cupcakes...I know, having a baby gave me some sort of "Superwoman complex." Kate let me know that she wasn't happy to be left out of the baking process-she was NOT happy about hanging out in her swing. The banquet was great, Chris kept the evening positive and focused on the kids and their achievements. He is so great. I am so proud of everything that he has accomplished, it was well worth some of the small personal sacrifices that we made to be able to have this experience.
  • Christmas is around the corner and we are feeling especially grateful for all of the things that we have-Wonderful family and friends that are so good to us, a beautiful and healthy baby that we adore, jobs that we love (well, me at least...), a successful football season and having the gospel, which helps us keep it all in perspective. Thank you all for your love and support this last year (can we call this the Homer family Christmas card?). Merry Christmas!

Semi-Finals, here we come!
So, I think that football may be getting a little predictable. Chris' team will be playing in the semi-final game this Friday morning at 11 against Park City. This season has been a fun ride, one that we hope will last another week. It seems like we were here just yesterday and now we are back here again. Thanks to everyone for your unwavering support of Tiger Football, see you at the game!

Kate in her Bumbo

Chris' little (female) clone!
All grown up!
Miss Kate thinks that she is all grown up. She has decided that sitting upright is her favorite position, in fact, she will do the job herself if you aren't fast enough! She can pull herself into a sitting position from being completely reclined in my lap. Grandma taught her how to roll over the other day and she has decided that she enjoys that also-even though she isn't quite sure what to do once she gets there. She has also found that she usually prefers her hands to a binky, although she has been known to try tackling both at once resulting in a noisy "slurp, suck, slurp" effect. Kisses ALWAYS result in a smile or a laugh and she is constantly talking or "complaining" to us. She is so fun and we are glad that we have her-she makes everything so much more exciting! Oh, and don't let me forget...she sleeps 10 hours every night (sorry uncle Brad, no Dairy Queen this time)!

Hi everyone, just a few more things that are going on at the Homer house:
  • Every day is a fashion show. So, I was really excited to realize that Miss Kate didn't receive any Fall/Winter clothes and we all know what that means...SHOPPING! Much to Chris' chagrin and much to my delight I have discovered the wonderful world of children's clothing stores. Now, we all know that I have been shopping before (nieces and nephews need new clothes too :), but somehow, shopping for your own baby puts a whole new spin on the shopping experience. Christensen's, Kohls, Target and The Children's Place all mean that we now get stopped EVERYWHERE we go because not only do we have a beautiful baby, but she travels in style! My mom laughs everytime I remind her that childhood is the only time that you can dress like a circus clown and actually be called cute...go figure.
  • Football in Full Swing. So, the Tigers are still on top...literally. The Deseret News came out with their 3A football standings and it looks like we made the top of the list. Chris' dad gently (are we talking about Glay?) reminded him that it was the kiss of death to be ranked first. Tact is a subtle science. Sarcasm aside, he is doing really well. We are headed into our second of three region games this Wednesday against Cedar. It is a home game, which is great, but the swine flu is threatening to even the playing field a bit. Two of Chris' receivers are out this week and he has spent hours on the phone trying to track down enough Tamiflu to treat his players if need be-now that is dedication.
  • Back to Work. I headed back to work last week with the help of my mom and Chris. Kate loves to go to grandma's house! I swear I don't know a baby that gets as much love and undivided attention (yeah, I know, I am as guilty as anyone...she is asleep in my lap as I write this). Chris thinks that she has an aversion to him, but we realized that she only shuns him if she realizes that I am in the room! She will get to make a few trips for film exchange on Saturdays with her dad and will spend countless hours watching him break down game film-not to mention watching college football. I guess we are starting her sports education early.
I will give you all the "back story" so you don't think we have been teaching our daughter naughty things. Kate was getting her pictures taken at home by our friend and "favorite" photographer Toni who suggested that we needed a "crying" picture. "Good luck" I said, "she doesn't cry." So, I thought if I readjusted her headband that she might comply...this was the result...

Alright, this may be against my better judgement, but here it is...boy are we in trouble!

Pathetic, i know, but i am FINALLY getting around to posting new things on this blog!!! so here are the updates:
  • She's here! Baby Kate Brooklyn Homer arrived on Sunday, August 2nd at 11:19 a.m. weighing in at 6lbs. and measuring 20 inches long. We had a good delivery experience and got her here safe and sound. Grandma and Grandpa Tobler drove all the way from Newport Beach to meet her and then turned back around and drove back @ 18 hrs. later! We are enjoying every minute of Miss Kate or "Katie Bug" as Grandma has dubbed her. She is so sweet and so far (fingers crossed) a good baby. Here's an odd bit of trivia-we found out we were going to have her the DAY AFTER football ended last year and had her the DAY BEFORE it started THIS year. How's that for timing?
  • Football is back. We are hoping to follow up our awesome '08 season with another good one this year. We played Skyline last Friday (who by all accounts is a pretty solid 5A school) and hung right in there with them. I had to hear it second hand, but I have it on good authority that we were very capable of winning that game barring a rough first quarter. The final score was SHS 27 HHS 14.
  • I am now the proud owner of Fanci Hair. I bought the salon from Leslie in June and am enjoying being "the boss." I am looking forward to some fun changes at the shop including a projected renovation (hopefully) next spring/summer and adding some new services to our repertoir (think eyelash extensions). I am also excited to have Cicely and Christy working with me at the salon. We just need to entice Shelly to come join us and our family salon will be complete!
